Review: Code of Princess EX (Nintendo Switch)

The story follows Princess Solange of DeLuxia as she fights to restore order in a world where monsters are trying to overtake the human race. Armed with the legendary sword DeLuxcalibur, Solange assembles a team of talented fighters to join her quest. Together, they embark on an epic journey where they will confront the monster uprising and try to discover its secret origins.

Pros:

  • Anime graphics.
  • 2.9GB Download size.
  • Japanese voice.
  • ARPG gameplay.
  • Four modes-Campaign, Free play, Bonus quests, and tutorial.
  • Two starting characters.
  • Difficulty 1-5 Stars.
  • Unlock new characters for the campaign and free play.
  • Breakable objects in levels.
  • Command list.
  • Campaign- Short bite-sized levels with a set goal and usually ends with a boss fight. You are timed and your best time is shown on the level select screen.
  • Can skip/hide cutscene dialogue.
  • Two players local co-op support.
  • Combo counter.
  • Two-player online- vs or co-op support. Co-op quests, vs ranked, vs free play, vs ultimate and leaderboard support for each mode with filters.
  • Earn EXP level up and increase stats.
  • Loadout screen- Equip any equipment here.
  • Three laned gameworlds, You can freely jump between the lanes.
  • Big boss fights.
  • Deep fighting combo system.
  • Clear UI.
  • End of level breakdown showing clear time, any found items, Gold, quest rewards and EXP earned.
  • Bite-sized levels.
  • Earned loot can be put on any character.
  • Big bright color palette.

Cons:

  • Very repetitive.
  • Plays more like a button masher.
  • Slow paced.
  • Stop-start action.
  • Weird delay when changing direction.
  • No touchscreen support.
  • Little customize options.
