Review: Rainbow Skies (PlayStation 4)

Pros:
- Cartoon-like graphics.
- 5.25GB Download size.
- Platinum trophy.
- Triple cross-buy across PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
- Tutorial help (optional) pops up as you discover new mechanics/events.
- Save transfer via a cloud-based system.
- RPG adventure gameplay.
- You see the enemies on the map as well as unseen ambush fights which manifest as random pop-ups and you can press X to jump in.
- Turn-based combat on a grid layout.
- Save when you want from the menu. You can save to console or the cloud.
- Turn order shown in combat.
- Coins- the In-game currency used for shops.
- Earn Exp, Level up to increase stats.
- Main quest with optional side quests.
- You play on the overworld mostly and enter doorways to launch into dungeons and side levels.
- Each area has a discovery percentage, Shows up as you move around.
- Skill stones- Found/earned and come in three types. Each one is used to upgrade particular stats like health or mana but can also be used to increase luck.
- Day/night cycle.
- Big bright easy to use UI.
- Map- Uncovers as you play, Shows icons and mission markers.
- Playtime is displayed.
- Very approachable thanks to simplified controls and bright atmosphere.
- Loot chests, Bags, enemy drops to gain loot.
- Use magic to earn EXP for that spell and level up to unlock new spells and attacks.
- Cool cartoon cutscenes.
- Boss battles.
- Blacksmith- Buy and upgrade your gear using resources.
- Battlerank- Can increase/decrease any of the unlocked ranks to increase enemy difficulty but also increase the rarity of the loot.
- Returning players will feel right at home as the layout and gameplay is the same.
- Full party management from gear to party layout in combat.
- Can tame animals/monsters.
- Huge world with many biomes within it.
- Just a lot of fun to play.
- 100s of hours worth of content.
- So much character.
- Many cool characters to meet.
- Decent loot drops.
Cons:
- Item bag size is small and has to be upgraded constantly.
- You soon accumulate a lot of side quests.
- A slow starter as you are low on health and power.
- Can be hard to see paths on the map.
- Repetitive fights.
- A lot of grinding later on.
- A very small window of opportunity for the ambush fights.
- Saving is slow.
- Difficulty spikes.
- No way of knowing which save location has the newest save data.
- Very similar to the previous game.
