Review: Football, Tactics & Glory (Steam)
Football, Tactics & Glory is using a ball rather than swords and sorcery in turn-based battles, developing a club instead of a castle, and leveling up your units after clashes on the stadium. It’s a unique combination of turn-based mechanics, team development, tycoon-style games, and football.
Pros:
- Decent graphics.
- Opening match with tutorial pop-ups.
- Turn-based football management sim gameplay.
- 664MB download size.
- Matches- Play, Sim or Spectate.
- Controls- Mouse only. Click a player then a grid will highlight possible places to pass/move to. Press button to assign the action then press again to confirm.
- Players earn EXP every game and this unlocks new skill and increases stats.
- Team management is a drag and drop system, Change formations etc.
- Kit design editor.
- Logo design editor.
- Full player creator system.
- Earn money from games that you use for transfers or upgrading your stadium for bonuses.
- Trophy room.
- Twitch support.
- Two modes- Single player or multiplayer.
- Local hot seat multiplayer support.
- Different weather types.
- Modify leagues- Name of teams, players and stadiums and all that.
- Steam achievements.
- Trading cards.
- Turn-based so the game is big on strategy.
- Quick to learn the ropes.
- Helpful icons when playing.
- Steam workshop/mod support.
- Stats- Pages upon pages of stats and graphs relating to your performance.
- You can tackle, Pass, Shoot or hold the ball which increases your hold skill temporarily.
- Fun to play.
Cons:
- Graphics options are only resolution and AA.
- Music is not that great, especially when in game.
- Simming a match is a dull experience with a few icons and player outlines showing up on the pitch.
- Very basic online mode.
- Couldn’t find a game online.
- Feels at times that clicks can be over sensitive or don’t require confirmation for your turn.
- No controller support.
- Not a lot of variety.
- Single player is not that engaging.
- Few balancing issues.
- Has you or a modder doing a lot of the work to have teams and names mean something.
