Review: Gang Beasts (PlayStation 4)
Gang Beasts is a silly multiplayer party game with surly gelatinous characters, brutal slapstick fight sequences, and absurd hazardous environments, set in the mean streets of Beef City.
Pros:
- Slick graphics.
- 3.98GB Download size.
- Platinum trophy.
- Character creation tool.
- Local and online support.
- Four modes- Football, Melee, Waves, and Gang.
- 17 arenas ranging from construction sites to containers to factories.
- Online, Just pick a mode and go.
- Waves- Horde based where you face off against AI who get stronger and bigger as you go.
- Melee- Classic first to X wins game mode.
- Football- Well it kind of works but. My god its mayhem.
- Arena fighter gameplay.
- Wide selection of moves from punches to kicks to throws and head buts.
- Controls are a little QWOP as it is very loose and wobbly. Sounds weird but to be honest it just works and stops people from going all EVO on your ass.
- Creates so many amazing set pieces and fights. You can hang onto each other and hang on to the scenery. Headbutts can knock players out for a short time and this alone causes many ragdoll humor.
- Anyone can pick up and play thanks to the control method and simple layout.
- Many pre-made characters including many recognizable faces like Rick and Marty and Bob the builder.
- You can set the settings for each match or have it where it randomizes.
- Has a button to highlight all players so you know where everyone is.
- Good soundtrack.
- So much fun.
- A game that is just as much fun to watch as it is to play.
Cons:
- No practice area.
- Lacks any tutorial.
- Only one controller layout.
- Waves are really difficult.
- Hit detection is a bit off.
- Few levels are not fun to play.
- Needs a replay mode for the last elimination or just a replay mode in general.
