Review: Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier (PlayStation 4)

Players play both sides of the growing conflict, gaining a deep understanding of the motivations, hopes, and fears of humans and apes alike. The destinies of each species rest entirely on the player as the game pushes towards a tense, fragile peace, or a final bloody battle.

Pros:

  • Outstanding graphics going for a more realistic approach.
  • 40.63GB Download size.
  • Three save slots.
  • Two control methods- Controller and using your smartphone via PlayLink. (Free app dl required)
  • Four players local support.
  • A film like approach as in the presentation.
  • Easy to use control methods. Swipe to the box on smartphone and use left and right stick on the controller.
  • Multiple choice interactions.
  • A lot of replay value.
  • Autosaves regularly.
  • Strong powerful voice work.
  • Some choices have a brief description underneath like side with so and so or be evil.
  • PlayLink app- Has a database of the characters and allows you to look into them a bit more. Vibrates when it is your turn to answer a question.
  • Tiebreaker- Only in multiplayer, If you cannot decide on an answer and if it is tied then someone can play their tiebreaker card and take full control. You only get one tiebreaker but can earn another one once everyone else has used theirs.
  • Four chapters.

  • Powerful emotional story.
  • Fun to play.
  • Best played with a group.

Cons:

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
