Review: Injustice 2 (PlayStation 4)

Picking up where Injustice left off, Batman struggles against Superman’s regime, as a new threat appears that will put Earth’s very existence at risk.

Pros:

  • Stunning graphics. The facial animation in particular is stand out awesome and the best I have seen on a console game, The levels have crazy details and background animations going on.
  • 29.54 GB Download size.
  • Platinum trophy.
  • HDR 10 output support.
  • Optional layered tutorial.
  • Fighting game gameplay.
  • Single player- Story, Single fight, Multiverse, Practice and tutorial.
  • Multiplayer- Vs, AI Battle simulator and tournament.
  • AI difficulty- Very easy, Easy, Medium, Hard and Very hard.
  • Fast loading times.
  • Story maintains the flawless transition between cut scenes and gameplay.
  • Combo counter.
  • Level transitions are back!
  • Environmental attacks and interactions, Different ones are available based on character type. For example heavy characters can pick up items where as a small fighter will merely jump off it.
  • Clash is back.
  • Earn EXP and level up to unlock loot and hero cards. You level up your main account but also each fighter has their own level you rank up which allows you to equip higher gear.
  • Loot- New gear for fighters which changes the stats of your characters or adds buffs like extra exp etc. Also all gear changes the appearance of your character.
  • Guild-Join or create a guild and do guild missions/multiverse/tasks to earn guild loot boxes.
  • Multiverse- Scenario mode where you take on missions with set rules/difficulties/objectives. Some missions are only available for a set amount of time. Finishing them grants you a score which rewards you with loot depending on your performance.
  • Hero card- Unlock new backgrounds.
  • Story mode has branching paths where you can choose which fighter to use which changes the story.
  • Excellent story, Better than any blockbuster DC film released so far. Also has an alternate ending!

  • Online leaderboards.
  • Chapter select.
  • Super moves are back and look awesome!
  • Familiar controls.
  • Clear easy to use UI.
  • Fast fun gameplay.
  • Excellent loot system that adds so much to the game.
  • Currency- Earned for just playing, Different currency is used for different things like loot boxes.
  • Crafting to make better gear.
  • You can earn re roll currency that allows you to re roll gear and makes it the same level as you are currently. Really handy when you have low or high level gear.

Cons:

  • Doesn’t explain currency or crafting mechanics very well.
  • Customizing is fiddly thanks to having to go in one menu to do it then click through to each section. Its just long winded.
  • No notification of Guild rewards waiting or progress.
  • AI can get a bit cheap.

Gaming since the Atari 2600, I enjoy the weirdness in games counting Densha De Go and RC De Go as my favourite titles of all time. I prefer gaming of old where buying games from a shop was a thing, Being social in person was a thing. Join me as I attempt to adapt to this new digital age!
